Eric Kretschman made history again when he was elected, at 32, to be the youngest county controller in Pennsylvania history.

Eric Kretschman’s fast track to success can can be attributed to his exceptional education and his dedication to hard work.

Eric earned his Bachelor of Science in History & Politics from Drexel University, and obtained a Master of Government Administration from the University of Pennsylvania where he graduated Summa Cum Laude.

At the age of 22, Eric was elected township commissioner for Montgomery County, PA; the youngest elected official in the county’s history. Montgomery County is ranked as the 69th most populous county in the US with 800,000 residents and is the 20th wealthiest. The county’s operating budget is $480 million and they have approximately 3,500 full-time employees.

During his time as commissioner, Eric became the Chairman of Public Works, and managed all of the township’s public services, infrastructure and capital spending. Eric was elected as Vice President of the Board of Commissioners at age 26.

During his tenure as Montgomery county controller, Eric oversaw an operating budget of $480 million, and oversaw accounts payable, payroll, internal audit and retirement services for the county’s 3,500 full-time employees.

The county’s $500 million pension fund was in need of an overhaul and Eric took on the task. He drafted a new investment policy, and hired new investment managers to restructure pension fund. Under Eric’s leadership, the pension fund grew by more than 25%, from $400 million to $518 million. In addition, Eric conducted periodic audits of row offices, tax collectors, various county departments and other county operations to ensure their proper, and ethical, operation.

Today, Eric’s business skills and leadership ability earned him a spot as Managing Director for Olympus Capital Group in New York. As MD, Eric oversees the company’s portfolio acquisitions, deal sourcing, negotiation and underwriting analysis. He is responsible for building a portfolio of properties across the country that has an asset value of $100,000,000.

Eric is happily married and lives with his wife and 4 daughters.
